About the Role:

Purvis Gray is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join our Assurance Services team. This is an opportunity to lead audit engagements across diverse industries, mentor rising professionals, and play a direct role in the success of clients and the development of our firm.

What You'll Do:

• Manage and oversee all phases of audit engagements for clients in both the public and private sectors

• Lead audit planning, risk assessment, team assignments, and engagement execution

• Review workpapers, financial statements, and reports to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and auditing standards

• Serve as the primary point of contact for client engagements, delivering clear communication and actionable insights

• Supervise and develop staff, providing performance feedback, coaching, and technical training

• Assist with scheduling, budgeting, billing, and project management across multiple engagements

• Participate in presentations to boards, audit committees, and executive teams

• Maintain technical knowledge of current accounting and audit developments

• Cultivate relationships internally and externally to support growth and business development

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required)

• Active CPA license (required)

• 5+ years of public accounting audit experience, with demonstrated progression into leadership roles

• Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GAAS, and internal control frameworks

• Prior experience managing multiple engagements and leading audit teams

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

• Ability to lead with confidence, empathy, and professionalism

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and audit software (Caseware, ProSystem fx, or similar)

• Ability to travel to client locations as needed

 

Preferred Experience:

• Industry-specific audit experience in sectors such as government, nonprofit, utilities, construction, or education

• Experience with Uniform Guidance (Single Audit) engagements

• Familiarity with grant-funded or regulated entities and reporting requirements

• Involvement in recruiting, onboarding, and training within a CPA firm setting
